Introduction for English speakers

Listen

Dear friends,

according to statistics, this website has received quite a few visits from English speaking areas (13% !). We are not yet ready to provide a full English version of the website, but I hope this first page will bring you some information, together with my best wishes and those of all motor neuron disease patients and their relatives from Parma's area.

You certainly know Italy, and possibly Parma. For your convenience, you have a small map here, where you can locate where we are based. The map you have seen on the website's opening page gives you more details on the area.

Parma is best known for the food that is produced here: Parma ham and Parmesan cheese (the Parmigiano-Reggiano). Some of you may know Parma for more artistic reasons, thanks to Giuseppe Verdi, and the theatre where his music is regularly performed, or to the ancient cathedral and many painters that have worked here (Correggio, Parmigianino to name some).

This website wishes to be the virtual counterpart of the local section of the AISLA (Associazione Italiana Sclerosi Laterale Amiotrofica), the Italian association for motor neuron disease, which is a member of the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations. As such, we try to deal with local issues and keep track of national activities.

Moreover, we aim at providing a place where patients who deal with this disease, and their relatives can meet and exchange information, suggestions, experiences, and hopefully find some relax and fun !
Any contribution is thus more than welcome, and I thank you in advance, also on the behalf of the patients and their relatives.

The articles you will find are in Italian, but I hope that the images and photographs will be helpful: feel free to contact me for any clarification or a full translation if needed. Similarly, if you wish to write to us or send information, feel free to do it in English and we will provide a translation. Of course, we will take care of your privacy, and will not publish names or addresses unless you authorize us to.

Thank you for your visit, I wish you all the best.

Yours sincerely

Piero
